Affiliate Disclosure

Short version: some links on this site are affiliate links. If you buy something through one, Coach Tested earns a small commission, and you pay exactly the same price you would have paid anyway.

That’s it. The rest of this page is the detail, because you should be able to see how the money works before you take a recommendation.

The required bit

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

Coach Tested is also a participant in other affiliate programs, which may include retailers and marketplaces that sell volleyball and softball equipment. Where a link earns a commission, that is disclosed on the page the link appears on, near the link.

What a commission actually is

If you click an affiliate link and buy something, the retailer pays this site a percentage of the sale. It’s typically a few percent. It does not add anything to your price, and it doesn’t change what the retailer charges you.

It also doesn’t give me any information about you personally. I can see that a sale happened and what category it was in. I can’t see who you are.

How products get chosen

This is the part that matters more than the legal language.

Nobody pays to be recommended here. Not a manufacturer, not a retailer, not a brand sending free product. If that ever changes — a sponsored post, a gifted item I write about — it will be labelled on the article itself, not buried on this page.

Commission rate does not decide the recommendation. Some of the things I’d tell you to buy pay nothing at all, and some of the best advice on this site is to not buy the thing. Where the cheaper option is the right option, that’s what the article says.

I will never tell you I’ve tested something I haven’t. Every article recommending equipment states plainly which items have actually been used — in a gym, on a field, in a bag for a season — and which are assessed on specifications, retailer data, and the trade-offs that are already well understood for that type of product. Those are two different claims and they get labelled differently.

That last rule costs me money and it’s the entire reason to trust the gear articles. A confident review of something nobody opened is worth nothing, however well it’s written.

If I get it wrong

If a recommendation here turns out to be bad — it broke, it didn’t fit, the sizing advice was off — I want to know. Corrections get made in the article, dated, rather than quietly edited out.

Advertising

This site may also display advertising. Ads are served by third-party networks and are not endorsements — I don’t choose which specific ads you see, and an ad appearing next to an article says nothing about whether I’d recommend that product.
